“Thank you Fiddelium for bringing your performance tonight to Merville Hall. Your musicianship and stage show were marvelous. I look forward to seeing you all perform again. Wow! I’m at a loss for words. Bravo. One encore was not enough…. Thanks for sharing your talent and the fruits of your hard work.” – Dave, Comox Valley
Fiddelium (pronounced “fid-DELL-ium”) a small group of young musicians who perform in and around Nanaimo at many events such as festivals, private gatherings, markets, and community celebrations. The music we play is mostly traditional fiddle music, but with an interesting twist. Our arrangements are groovy and high-energy, and are created especially for us by our directors Geoff and Trish Horrocks.
Our tour of Vancouver Island in the spring of 2016 was very well received, and you can read a few of the comments from our audience members throughout this site. In May 2017 we will present our year-end show in Nanaimo at the Port Theatre in a concert hosted by well-known entertainer Rick Scott. We look forward to meeting many new fans at that show! We also look forward to presenting our music in other Island towns this year.
In July 2015, Fiddelium was the featured soloist with the Strathcona Symphony Orchestra for the centennial celebrations of the City of Courtenay. They also appeared at the 2015 Father’s Day Ceilidh in Beacon Hill Park in Victoria. Other notable appearances include the CDC Telethon in 2014 and 2015, the Nanaimo Sings Festival in 2015, Bel Canto Choir’s 2015 Christmas concert series, and Festival Nanaimo 2016.
